PKB / Akt kinase Inhibitors - The PKB Akt kinase family is comprised of three highly homologous isoforms: Akt1 (PKBα), Akt2 (PKBβ) and Akt3 (PKBγ). The PKB Akt kinase family is activated downstream of PI3-kinase and is involved in numerous cellular processes as cell growth, survival and proliferation. Furthermore, especially Akt2 is an important signaling molecule in the Insulin signaling pathway. The small molecule inhibitors of this category are specific and selective PKB Akt inhibitors.
