Background: GSK3 beta is a serine/threonine protein kinase and works as regulatory kinase for its namesake, Glycogen synthase. It acts also as a downstream regulatory switch for numerous signaling pathways, including cellular responses to WNT, Growth Factors, Insulin, RTK (Receptor Tyrosine Kinases), Hedgehog pathways, and GPCR (G-Protein-Coupled Receptors) in the hormonal control of glucose homeostasis, Wnt signaling and regulation of transcription factors and microtubules.
