Background: Forskolin, is a cell permeable diterpenoid isolated from Coleus forskohlii.  Forskolin has a unique ability to stimulate adenylate cyclase activity and increase intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) thus activating cAMP-dependent protein kinase and other cAMP receptor proteins.
